FULTON, Ill. — Zach Barber tossed in 37 points, Matt Dail added 16 and Seth Sanderson scored 10, and Dail hit a key 3-pointer in the fourth quarter to lead Fulton past Riverdale, 71-58 on Friday in Three Rivers Conference boys basketball.

Rebels struggle

GOOSE LAKE — Forced to play catchup most the night, Northeast never could catch Cascade over the final three periods of a 59-47 loss in a River Valley Conference matchup of unbeaten opponents Friday.

The Cougars (6-0, 3-0 conference) opened the second quarter on a 10-2 run and never looked back.

"In the first half, I thought we were a little timid," Northeast coach Travis Eversmeyer said. "We weren't attacking them the way we are capable of, and we were in foul trouble. The second half, I loved our kids energy and aggressiveness. They didn't back down, and they proved to themselves that they can compete with this team."

Devin Green led Cascade with 22 points, while Will Hasken and Nick Wall had 12 each for Northeast.

River Hawks roll

SPRINGVILLE — Logan Wilhelm scored 15 of his game-high 20 points in the first help, helping Easton Valley build a lead it didn't lose in a 60-52 victory Friday against Springville in a matchup of highly regarded teams in the Tri-Rivers Conference.

Wilhelm, a 6-foot-8 senior, made seven field goals in the opening half, when the River Hawks (5-1, 4-0 conference) built leads of 19-11 after one quarter and 26-23 at the half. Chase Zaruba then spearheaded the Easton Valley offense after intermission, scoring 13 of his 17 points.

The River Hawks also limited Springville's leading scorer for the season, 6-6 Elias Nissen, to seven points. He entered the game averaging 21.7 a game for the Orioles (7-1).
