CLINTON — Clinton's Prince of Peace schools will host a Scholastic Chess Tournament for kindergarteners through 12th grade chess players.
“The Advent Gambit” will be played at Prince of Peace Schools, 312 S. Fourth St., on Dec. 2.
Prince of Peace Tournaments are U.S. Chess Federation Rated Scholastic tournaments. Please renew your USCF membership at www.uscf.org or you can get a new membership on the morning of the tournament. A Chess Club benefactor will help pay for student memberships, as needed.
The tournament will be round-robin, with students playing all players at their age-group table. All participants will get a chess medallion. Winners in each age-group category will get trophies.
Students and their families will have a “noisy” room with snacks, soft drinks and pizza for sale. Chess matches will be held in a quiet game room.
