Johnson pleads guilty to felonies

CLINTON — A Clinton man pleaded guilty Tuesday to multiple felony charges for burglaries at Family Video and Frogs Auto Sales.

Melvin C. Johnson, 47, 2819 Garfield St., appeared Tuesday in Clinton County District Court and pleaded guilty in one case to two counts of first-degree theft, a Class C felony; two counts of third-degree burglary, a Class D felony; and one count of second-degree criminal mischief, a Class D felony. The State will dismiss six counts of third-degree burglary at sentencing. The State will dismiss the habitual offender sentencing enhancement for all counts. The plea agreement states the parties agree the sentences under the five felony counts will be ordered to run concurrently.

Johnson in a separate case pleaded guilty to one count of third-degree burglary, which is a Class D felony, and one count of third-degree theft, an aggravated misdemeanor. The State will dismiss the habitual offender sentencing enhancement at sentencing. The plea agreement states the parties agree the sentences imposed in the two cases will run consecutively.

Sentencing is set for 9 a.m. Sept. 13.
