CLINTON — A Clinton woman is facing two felony drug charges.
Shakra D. Simpson, 30, 522 N. Third St., is charged with controlled substance violation, a Class C felony, and controlled substance violation, a Class D felony. Attorney Harold DeLange on Thursday filed a written arraignment and plea of not guilty.
According to the affidavit, on Aug. 7, Clinton police officers assisted state troopers with a search warrant at Simpson's residence. Officers found 1.5 grams of methamphetamine in the room where Simpson was found hiding. Officers also found digital scales and packaging material. Officers also found a 30-gram bag of marijuana during the search.
Simpson told the officer she planned on selling the methamphetamine to make money because she just lost her job as a certified nursing assistant. Simpson stated she received the methamphetamine that day and told the person who delivered it to send customers her way so she could make some money. Simpson showed the officer Facebook messages of a conversation between her and her source, corroborating information she gave the officer.
