Discovery Center programs feature STEM Science, Gone Fishin'

CLINTON — The Felix Adler Children’s Discovery Center is enjoying summer activities. On WOW Wednesday, put your skills to the test with STEM Science. Then, reel in some fun with Gone Fishin’ on Funtime Friday. Each of these programs is free with your museum admission or membership.

From 2 p.m. to close Wednesday is WOW Wednesday, sponsored by US Bank. Kids will use their skills in step-by-step assembly and build their own penny spinner toy. STEM principals of kinetics and light will be featured. Also, it’s August and Miss Jean is back full force for Wednesdays. Be sure to stop by and visit her to learn and to play chess, juggling, and logic games. Tell her all about your summer and what fun games you’ve been playing. WOW Wednesday is geared for school-aged kids and their families. WOW Wednesday is drop in, with no pre-registration required.

At 10 a.m. Friday is Funtime Friday sponsored by the Clinton Kiwanis Club. Enjoy some literary fun and see what exciting things you can reel in at Gone Fishin’. Children enjoy a snack that will include goldfish and river water. This favorite program is designed for preschoolers and their grown-ups, although all age children are welcome, especially in the summer when older siblings are out of school.

The Discovery Center also goes out and about to help other community events and celebrations. This summer, the Discovery Center will bring balloon art and face painting to every Clinton LumberKings Sunday home game. The Discovery Center will be facepainting at the All Church Block Party, from 4 to 6 p.m. Aug 26.

The Discovery Center is open Wednesdays through Saturdays, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sundays 12:30 to 5 p.m. Admission is $4 per person ages 2 to 64, $3 per person ages 65 and older, free for children one and younger, and free for members of the children’s museum.

The Discovery Center is a Blue Star Museum. That means free admission Memorial Day through Labor Day is offered to active duty military, including Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Marines, National Guard, and Reserve Members, with up to five family members. Please show your active duty card at the admissions desk.
