Do you have any projects that you would like to see happen during your time as director?

There are projects I’ve always had in mind. If anything is obtainable one of my favorite things to do would be put in a new indoor sports facility and an outdoor quad softball/baseball complex. Pie-in-the-sky thinking that’s obviously what I would like to see done. If I could say I had a career goal it would be to get that in our community. I also would like to see our park systems improved so that when you go to a city park it’s so welcoming and inviting that you know you’re at a Clinton park.

What is your favorite park in Clinton?

My favorite park in Clinton is Emma Young. That’s the park we operate in. I play in the adult sports here. I play adult volleyball league and I play adult kickball league. My kids participate in sports here so I’m here a lot. ... Now that we got all the mulch and the flowers, when you drive in I tell my wife all the time how beautiful it looks. I just really like this park. Sometimes if I grab a bite to eat I’ll just sit out there by the pond and collect my thoughts.

What is your favorite sport?

Volleyball. I love to play volleyball. I started when I was 20 years old. I still play in some local tournaments. I’ve always had a passion for volleyball but I love all sports.

What makes you unique?

I think just my personality. When you think of Parks and Recreation I think your personality has to fit that type of career because most people when they re-create they want to take a break from their everyday grind and just go enjoy life. I think that is kind of what my personality is, just making sure everybody has the activities they want, the activities they need. When you think recreation, I want you to think Josh Eggers.
