The Kiwanis of Clinton REACH a Child program book drive will begin Saturday.

Clinton Kiwanis is asking for a variety of new and like-new children’s books.

The REACH a Child program will provide a backpack of books to emergency responders, as well as agencies such as the YWCA Crisis Center and the Gateway Area Chapter of the American Red Cross.

These books will then be presented to children during traumatic events to offer them a chance to escape.

Anyone wishing to donate books on Saturday can visit the following drop-off locations: Hy-Vee, Fareway, 392 Caffe, Clinton Herald; radio stations KROS and KCLN, Corner Deli and Ice Cream Shoppe, Homer’s Deli, Rastrelli’s Restaurant, U.S. Bank, Citizen’s First Bank and McEleney Chevrolet Buick GMC Toyota.

Clinton Kiwanis will add additional drop locations after the official kick-off event this Saturday, which will be announced later.

There will also be a book drop box at the Kiwanis pancake breakfast on May 6.

To learn more about the Clinton Kiwanis REACH a Child program, to donate books or host a book drop box, visit the Kiwanis Club online at www.kiwanisclubofclinton.org or visit the Kiwanis of Clinton's Facebook page.
