CLINTON — An evening of dance ranging from classical ballet, jazzy lyrical and modern to praise, Irish step dance, even some hip hop, awaits audiences at Gateway Contemporary Ballet’s “25 Years of Dance” concert March 28.

The curtain will rise at 7 p.m. in Vernon Cook Theatre, Clinton High School, for the anniversary program featuring a number of guest artists. A public reception at the Clinton Country Club will follow.

Special guests are former members of GCB, students from the dance department at Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, Ill., and a young man from a dance studio in Arizona.

Current members of GCB will perform several works including “Lil, Memories of Lillian Russell,” the company's signature piece that closes with the tossing of garters into the audience. The finale will be a look at the past 25 years with “Memories,” choreographed by Linda Luckstead, GCB Artistic Director.

Advance tickets to the concert are $8 ($10 at the door), available at Clinton Printing, Don’s Jewelry, and Carousel School of Dance in Clinton. The concert will be free for children through middle school age accompanied by a parent, as well as for older students with a school ID.

Tickets for the reception are $20, also available at the above locations. A variety of elegant hors d’oeuvres will be served, and vocalist Travis Hosette will be singing in his signature style of the late Frank Sinatra.
