Police investigating burglaries
The Clinton Police Department is looking for victims of car burglaries and thefts occurring between Sept. 25 and Sept. 30.
Police have investigated the activities of two youths early this month and learned they allegedly stole from parked cars in a corridor running from the Chancy Park area, along South 14th Street to the area of Second Avenue South and Bluff Boulevard. Charges are pending against the youths. Through the investigation, police recovered many items identified as stolen by the suspects that were never reported to the police.
Anyone who experienced theft from their automobiles in that area and time is encouraged to report the crime to the police. To report a crime, call 243-1458.
Hanging at jail being investigated
An investigation has been launched regarding a hanging at the Clinton County Jail.
On Oct. 4, a correctional officer from the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office Jail Division discovered 17-year-old inmate Austin Bruckner hanging during a cell check at 2:43 p.m. According to the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department, jail staff rescued Bruckner and provided medical attention.
Bruckner was transported to Mercy Medical Center.
Bruckner is due in court today on third-degree burglary charges.
The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is assisting the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office with an investigation into this incident.
