CAMANCHE — Kids First! Academy will host its fifth annual Family Fun Night featuring a chili and soup cook-off and other family activities from 4:30 to 7 p.m. March 7 at the center, 706 13th Ave. in Camanche.

The chili and soup cook-off will consist of more than 10 teams, many representing local organizations, including the Camanche Police Department, Camanche Fire Department, Camanche Masonic Lodge, Citizens First Bank and Camanche Physical Therapy. Those attending the event will be able to dine on all the chili and soup entries, and then vote for their favorites to win the top awards.

Admission to the event is $5 and includes all-you-can-eat chili, soup, hot dogs, chips and homemade desserts. For kids, the admission fee also includes all-you-can play games, prizes, and crafts. Children under age 2 receive free admission.

A little kids’ game and craft room will include a variety of games, with prizes along with fun craft activities and face painting. A big kids’/teen room will feature Nintendo Wii contests with prizes. The evening will also feature a silent auction and grab bags full of surprises.

“Our goal is to provide entertaining activities for the whole family,” said Director Jeanette Seibel. “The event is a lot of fun each year and we are so appreciative of all the community support.”

This year’s proceeds will be put toward a roof repair fund.
