Weather on Thursday mirrored springtime temperatures, and since it occurred in January, it’s now in the record books. A record-high of 56 degrees was recorded Thursday, beating the previous record of 53 degrees set in 1916 and 1956, Jim Blaess, official weather observer for the National Weather Service, said. Temperatures on Thursday registered a stark contrast from the average normal high of 28 degrees. The highest temperature recorded in January last year was 35 degrees, Blaess said, representing a very different January from this year. The weather looks to continue to be warm for winter, with temperatures expected in the 40s during the weekend.
