Discovery Center celebrates Earth Day

CLINTON — The Felix Adler Children’s Discovery Center is celebrating the Earth with these fun activities. WOW Wednesday asks where the garbage goes, while Funtime Friday celebrates Earth Day.

Each program is free with regular museum admission or membership. The Discovery Center’s April Wendy’s Restaurant Night is this week as well; stop by Monday, April 16, from 5 to 7 p.m. Save the date for the upcoming Hy-Vee Market Grille Fundraiser on Friday, May 4.

On Wednesday, from 2 p.m. to close, is WOW Wednesday, sponsored by US Bank. This weekly program includes chess, juggling, and logic puzzles with Miss Jean, where all ages and abilities are welcome. Also, have you ever wondered where all the garbage goes? Find out with a fun experiment that doesn’t smell bad. WOW Wednesday is geared for school-aged kids and their families. Families are invited to drop in and enjoy the activities, and no pre-registration is required.

Friday, April 20, at 10 a.m., is Funtime Friday, sponsored by Clinton Kiwanis Club. Celebrate Earth Day with fun activities and help the Discovery Center take care of the Earth and plant flowers. As always, a snack is included. This favorite program is designed for preschoolers and their grown-ups, although all age children are welcome.

Monday, April 16 is Wendy’s Restaurant Fundraising Night. From 5 to 7 p.m., stop over to support the Discovery Center with a nice family meal. Whether you dine in, drive through, or get carry-out, you’ll be helping your local children’s museum. Wendy’s donates 10 percent of everything sold.

Mark your calendar for the Hy-Vee Market Grille Fundraiser on Friday, May 4. From 4 to 10 p.m., stop by the local Hy-Vee Market Grille and sit down to a nice family dinner. The Discovery Center will be there hosting this event and Hy-Vee will donate 25 percent of all sales. Discovery Center volunteers will be there greeting, busing, bartending, and helping to serve.

The Discovery Center is open Wednesdays through Saturdays, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sundays 12:30 to 5 p.m. Admission is $4 per person ages 2 to 64, $3 per person ages 65 and older, free for children one and younger, and free for members of the children’s museum.
