CORDOVA, Ill. — Exelon Generation will conduct its semi-annual, full-volume test of the emergency warning sirens at the Quad-Cities Station between today and Monday. The sirens will be tested multiple times during that timeframe.
This is the second of two semi-annual tests scheduled for June and December each year.
The sirens are not a signal to evacuate, but are an alert for residents to tune into an Emergency Alert System (EAS) television or radio station for information in the event of an emergency at the facility. These stations are listed in the emergency planning brochure mailed to households and businesses in the 10-mile Emergency Planning Zone.
Quad-Cities Generating Station is located approximately three miles north of Cordova on Illinois 84 in Rock Island County. The station’s two reactors can produce more than 1,900 megawatts of electricity.
