Emily Gipe has been the YWCA fund development/human resource director since the end of November. Find out more about her in this week’s edition of Meet Your Neighbor.

How have your first couple of months in your new role been?

Really good, it’s a lot to learn. The staff is great and the previous financial development director has been awesome to learn from. I was on her committee for a while doing the fund development so I kind of had a good basis on that, but It’s just been a lot more in depth.

What do you want to bring to this role?

Excitement. We’ve got a lot of great exciting ideas and plans for the future and just trying to find that financial component for it.

Is there anything you are looking forward to in the spring?

The Women of Achievement event. It will be the 44th one and it’s April 6, that’s a Thursday night, at Rastrelli’s. It’s an evening to recognize women and their accomplishments. We’ve got Oodles of Noodles coming up, which is our child-care fundraiser at Rastrelli’s. Personally, I’m looking forward to moving into my new house.

What local businesses do you shop at?

I love Deanna’s Java Station. Every time my dad comes into town we have to go to Paul’s and we spend like three hours there.

What is your favorite day of the week and why?

Friday because my to-do list for the week is done.
