CLINTON — The Home Base Iowa program is an initiative put forward by former Gov. Terry Branstad and Major Gen. Tim Orr, the adjutant general of the Iowa National Guard. They recognized an opportunity to honor all veterans and help bridge Iowa’s current skills gap.
Home Base Iowa was developed as a non-profit, private-public partnership to recruit veterans and transitioning service members and help them find private-sector careers in Iowa.
Clinton County received the Governor’s designation as a Home Base Iowa Community on Dec. 23, 2016. Since then, the program has been leveraged to attract veterans to the region by connecting them with area employers.
In an effort to increase awareness, the Clinton Regional Development Corp., in partnership with the Clinton County Economic Development Coordinating Council and the Clinton County Auditor’s office, designed a 12-page handout highlighting the incentives and benefits offered to those veterans who relocate into Clinton County.
Supporters of the program are asked to download the PDF and keep it on file should they engage a qualifying veteran. Both state and local incentives are designed to honor the sacrifice and dedication of our country’s veterans. The PDF can be downloaded at https://s3.amazonaws.com/homebaseiowa/HBI+Handout+6-8-18.pdf
