Brenda Council has been a Master Gardener since 2005 and can be found today selling plants at the Main Avenue Craft Show. Find out more about her in this week’s edition of Meet Your Neighbor.
Why do you garden?
It’s just something I’ve always grown up with. My mother was a gardener, my grandmother was a gardener of vegetables and fruits. My mother loved flowers and that’s kind of where I go. I love flowers.
Why is Clinton a good place to garden?
They have a lot of nice gardens and they are very proactive as far as making places for people to sit and just enjoy nature.
What do you do in the winter when gardening is not an option?
I do a lot of cross stitching. I don’t garden a lot in the winter, that’s kind of my down time.
What is the secret to a green thumb?
Research, knowledge, ask a Master Gardener if you don’t know.
What are you most excited about for the plant sale at the Main Avenue Craft Show?
I like visiting with the people that come in. They have such interesting questions and you kind of give them a little bit of your knowledge. It’s just a fun event. Everyone is there having a good time.
What do you do when you’re not gardening?
I spend a lot of time with my grandkids and we have another acreage out by our son’s business and we garden out there. We have a little camper we put there, so it’s our get-away place.
