Abby Willging is a senior at Fulton High School in Fulton, Illinois, but is taking 16 dual-credit hours of classes at Sauk Valley Community College through Sauk Academy. Find out more about her in this week’s edition of Meet Your Neighbor.

What has been your favorite course at Sauk?

Chemistry 105, it’s my favorite. That’s kind of the field I’m going into, plus my teacher is really funny. We have a lab on Thursday so the stuff we learn in class we apply in the lab. My high school course prepared me for the college labs because a lot of the people from other schools didn’t really know what any of the instruments were. I feel like Fulton helped me a lot.

How do you stay involved at Fulton High when you are taking 16 credits of courses at Sauk?

I come back during homeroom a lot of days and I see my friends. I go to weight room still after school with some of the people and I still go to sporting events like the football game tonight.

What are you’re plans when you finish at Sauk?

I’m going to Iowa next year and I will be a Pre-Pharmacy major.

What do you want to do when you get out of college?

I want to be a clinical pharmacist, those are the ones who work in hospitals and interact with the patients. I want to work in a pediatric hospital, a big hospital, which Iowa has a really nice one there with really good programs.

Are you in any extracurricular activities?

I’m playing basketball and softball. I’m back by 2:30 everyday so I will be back in time for practice. I’m going to homecoming and prom. I already have my homecoming dress so I’m excited for it.

What are you doing on the weekends?

This weekend I’m going to an Iowa football game, the home opener. I also hang out with my friends and play sports, we have open gyms for basketball. I like doing that.
