CLINTON — Construction continues next to the Clinton Hy-Vee on South Fourth Street, the site of the new Community Health Care, Inc. clinic. CHC CEO Tom Bowman said he’s pleased with the progress, adding Thursday that development is rapidly taking shape.
“The construction piece is nearly complete,” he said. “We’re getting closer every day to being complete there.”
The Clinton clinic — which will provide affordable health and dental coverage — is slated to be open in mid-August. Bowman said construction should be finished by May, though there will need to be interior preparations before the clinic can begin operating.
Meanwhile, he said the Clinton-based workforce is lined up. The new facility will employ 10, some of which have already been hired and are training at CHC’s main headquarters in the Quad-Cities.
“We’ve identified several staff that have been training in other clinics,” Bowman said. “Being ahead of the game and having most of the providers in place, having most of the support staff hired and identified — I’m very pleased.”
CHC is still feeling out several components of the facility, such as who will provide pharmaceutical services and where to contract out pieces like radiology and mental health. Bowman’s group is meeting with local partners to feel out what can be arranged.
Even though Clinton is still a few months away from having its brand new clinic, Bowman said there are great vibes building thanks to local outreach.
“We’ve gotten nothing but positive feedback from the community,” Bowman said. “We’re excited to be part of the Clinton community.”
