STERLING, Ill. — The new CGH Emergency Department is now open. In the event of an emergency, the public is encouraged to use the new emergency entrance located off Second Avenue.

The Illinois Department of Public Health has approved the expansion and renovation of CGH Medical Center’s Emergency Department. As of this week, patients are being seen in the newly completed Emergency Department.

The 22,500 square-foot-department will feature 26 private treatment rooms, two trauma rooms containing two to three additional beds, six patient Easy Care bays and three triage rooms, as well as a streamlined patient registration and triage process.

“We are committed to meeting our expanding patient needs,” added Cindy Zander, CGH Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. “The newly designed ED will better serve our communities long into the future.”
