CLINTON -- A motorcyclist was killed in Clinton after a collision this afternoon, police said in a press release issued tonight.

Clinton police have not released the name of the victim, who was injured when the motorcycle collided with a car shortly before 5 p.m. in the 1100 block of South 14th Street.

The press release stated the motorcycle was traveling south in the outside lane when a 2003 silver Chevy Cavalier exited a business driveway. The motorcycle struck the car's driver's side rear door.

The driver of the car as well as the motorcycle operator were transported to Mercy Medical Center, where the motorcyclist was pronounced dead. The victim's name is being withheld pending notification of family.

The crash remains under investigation.
