CLINTON — A nearly $1 million renovation project is underway at LyondellBasell and expectations are that it will be completed by this summer.

Construction on the project began in March and is aimed at updating an existing building at the Clinton complex. According to Brent Connett, public relations manager for Clinton's plant, once the building is completed its expected use is for an onsite contractor office and conference room.

Connett also said the commercial rehabilitation has not caused any interruptions with daily operations, adding that upgrading the building is part of a long-term infrastructure plan.

"This new building is part of a plan to ensure that our buildings will support any future operational needs at the plant," Connett said.

The building permit was issued in February for an estimated $995,000. Clinton Engineering is listed on the permit as the contractor for the project.
