School board reorganization vote tonight

CLINTON — A formal reorganization of the Clinton School Board may come at today’s regular meeting.

The reorganization occurs ever year, with a potential change in board president and vice president positions. Eric Gettes currently serves as the board’s president, while Jenny Green carries out vice president duties.

While those assignments may not necessarily change, the opportunity to change them will be the first order of business at today’s meeting.

“If only one member is nominated, a motion calling for a unanimous ballot may be presented and carried by unanimous voice vote,” the agenda states. “If the voice vote is not unanimous or if more than one member is nominated, the voting may be done by a signed ballot.”

District Chief Financial Officer Cindy McAleer is set to be appointed as the board’s secretary and treasurer at the meeting as well. According to the agenda, “The board secretary/treasurer is responsible for preserving and maintaining the records and documents pertaining to the business of the school board.”

Finally, the board is expected to acknowledge and approve a $500 donation to the Clinton High School Drama Department on behalf Jeff and Ann Reed and State Farm Insurance. Ann is a sitting Clinton School Board member, set to complete her first year on the board this year.
