TLP to present fall production of 'Beehive: The 60's Musical'

MOUNT CARROLL, Ill. — Timber Lake Playhouse, the professional summer theater of Northwest Illinois, will present "Beehive: The 60's Musical," created by Larry Gallagher, at the playhouse in Mount Carroll from Sept. 7 to 9 and Sept. 14 to 16.

Beehive is a wild toe-tapping, head shakin’ musical tribute to the rockin’ women who made the music of the 1960s so special – everyone from Lesley Gore to Janis Joplin, from the Shirelles to the Supremes and Aretha Franklin to Tina Turner. And every woman in between!

Beehive is the ultimate celebration of 1960s female empowerment. Featuring such timeless classics as “My Boyfriend’s Back,” “Be My Baby,” “Son of a Preacher Man” and “Me and Bobby McGee," "Beehive" nostalgically recalls the days of miniskirts, transistor radios and flower power. Told from the perspective of six young women who came of age in this enigmatic decade, these young ladies look back on a host of issues ranging from their first Beehive Dance to the challenges we faced as a nation – all accomplished by a vast array of the most celebrated and memorable songs of the era. "Beehive" will have you dancing in your seats.

"Beehive" is directed by New York director Dana Iannuzzi and choreographed by Broadway veteran Felicia Finley, who are both making their Timber Lake Playhouse debut.

The Deck Series will continue during the run of "Beehive" and will feature food, drink and entertainment. The Deck Series runs both weekends before the performances of "Beehive."

Don’t miss "Heartache Tonight, an Eagles Tribute Concert" on Sept. 29 and the Nashville Weekend running Oct. 5-7. Saturday nights in October feature “Timber Lake Terror” – a Haunted Experience" at Timber Lake Playhouse complete with haunted trails, haunted houses and an Escape Room.
