CLINTON — In 1960, a group of mothers got together over coffee and decided there were not enough opportunities for their children who were developmentally and physically challenged.
Today these parents join with caring people in the community to create monthly programs and fun events where everyone is welcome and physical and developmental challenges are just challenges that are regularly overcome.
P.E.P. of Clinton County schedules monthly fun events keeping both educational needs as well as social skills in focus. Hay rack rides, dances, costume parties, baseball games, and sometimes even a trip to the state fair have all been part of the P.E.P. experience.
This Saturday, March 17, PEP will gather at the Clinton Moose Lodge to dance, eat and celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. The dance will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Last year’s St. Patrick’s Day dance was attended by over 120 people (clients and staff).
Upcoming events include the Spring Fling Dance and ice cream social, a trip to the Henry Vilas Zoo in Madison, Wisconsin and a picnic at Eagle Point Park. If you have any questions or would like to join the group, call Laurie at (563) 321-1398 or Billie at (563) 357-0438. P.E.P. also is always looking for volunteers to help.
