FULTON, Ill. — Fulton Elementary School students had an exciting assembly with Deputy Rollie Elders and his K9, Nicom, on Nov. 14. The students enjoyed a demonstration from Nicom and Elders on their police work and training.

The assembly with Nicom was to kick off a fundraiser the elementary students will have to raise funds for the Fulton Police Department to acquire a new police dog. The school is having a buy-one-get-one-free Scholastic Book Fair the week of Nov. 27 to Dec. 1. The students and staff will be collecting money that entire week for the police department.

Tuesday, Nov. 28, is the book fair family night from 5:30 to 7 p.m. and there will be several therapy dogs from the area at the elementary school to visit and have their pictures taken. A representative with the Fulton Police Department also will be available to answer questions.

The event is open to the public.
