FULTON, Ill. — June Isabelle Sikkema, 88, of Fulton, IL, died Thursday, February 27, 2014, at Harbor Crest Nursing Home, Fulton, IL.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 1, 2014 at the First Christian Reformed Church, Fulton, IL, with the Rev. Philip Stel, Pastor of First Christian Reformed Church, Fulton, IL, officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, February 28, 2014 at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Interment will be at Fulton Township Cemetery, Fulton, IL. Memorials may be made to Harbor Crest Nursing Home and Alzheimer’s Association.
June was born on June 2, 1925 in Fulton, IL to Jacob and Maggie (Ottens) Hoogheem.
June was educated at the former Lockhart School in rural Fulton, IL.
She married Robert P. Sikkema on April 4, 1945 in Fulton, IL.
June was employed at Climax Engines, Clinton, IA, Clinton Corn, Clinton, IA, General Electric, Morrison, IL, and Burpee Seed Company, Clinton, IA. She also farmed along with her husband, Bob, in the Thomson and Cottonwood areas.
June was a charter member of the Trinity Reformed Church, Fulton, IL and was currently a member of the First Christian Reformed Church, Fulton, IL where she was a member of the Rebecca Society. She loved to bake, garden and crochet, making many afghans. She enjoyed the time she was able to spend with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include husband, Bob; one daughter, Susan Kay (Hans G.) Dransfeld, Huntington, WV; two sons, Bruce W. (Betty) Sikkema, Thomson, IL, and Clark D. (Donna Duvall) Sikkema, Spraugeville, IA; nine grandchildren, Robert B. (Trisha) Sikkema, Bhrett (Marycat) Sikkema, Lisa Davis, Jonathan Sikkema, Tristan (Joni) Sikkema, Evan (Cassie) Sikkema, Thomas Dransfeld, Paul Dransfeld, Maggie Dransfeld; 11 great-grandchildren, Izabella James, Cody Davis, Kimberly and Falicia Sikkema, Moriha Heuer, Kempton and Kieran Sikkema, Kai and Oliver Sikkema, Adrian and Joslin Banowitz; one sister, Mrs. Irma Wiersema, Clinton, IA; one brother, Ken (Dixie) Hoogheem, Clinton, IA.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one granddaughter, Maya Banowitz; one brother, Lyle Hoogheem.
