GHENT, Ky. — John Mark Maddy, 63 of Ghent, Kentucky and formerly of Clinton, Iowa, passed away December 13, 2013. He was a loving husband, an amazing father, a caring brother, proud grandpa and trusted friend to so many.
John was born March 17, 1950 in Spring Valley, Illinois, the son of W. Gordon and Leda (Askren) Maddy. He graduated from Western High School in 1968.
He proudly served his country in the Army, stationed in Asmera, Ethiopia from 1970 to 1972. He was an entrepreneur, self-taught website designer, sales man and sales trainer/public speaker. He enjoyed living in the country where he and Marvel raised and showed llamas.
He is survived by his wife, Marvel Maddy; his son, Brian Maddy of Des Moines IA; his daughter Renae Maddy of Des Moines IA; step sons Leo Marshall of TN and Chad Marshall of AR; step daughter Colette Lasack of WI and 12 grandchildren that were his pride and joy; brothers Dale Maddy Lodi WI, Wayne (Sandy) Maddy Massillon OH, Joel Maddy IL; sisters Rebecca Maddy Chicago IL, Vivian (Robert) Roffey Peoria IL, Mary (Mert) Newman Kewanee IL, Barbara (Lee) Carper Princeton IL, Alice Maddy Princeton IL, Clair (Kent) Cook Peoria IL.
A memorial service is being held at the Tuscani Room at Rastrelli’s Restaurant, 238 Main Ave., Clinton on December 21, 2013 starting at 1 p.m.
