CLINTON — Gerald E. Temple, 85, of Clinton, passed away Thursday, January 30, 2014 at Mercy Living Center – South, Clinton.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 pm, Monday, February 3, 2014 at Chancy Lutheran Church with the Rev. Fred Schauer officiating. Burial will be in the Springdale Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from noon to the service time at the church. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Gerald Edwin Temple was born on May 27, 1928 in Fulton, Illinois, the son of Jacob H. and Gertrude (Decker) Temple. He married Eldora Mehlberg on May 27, 1950 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Sabula; she died January 20, 2007.
Gerald was employed at Clinton Corn for many years. He was a contractor building six homes in his career. He was also a Realtor with his wife at Temple Realty for several years.
Gerald was a member of Chancy Lutheran Church and a former member of the Clinton Moose Lodge. He enjoyed fishing, especially his annual trips to Canada or northern Minnesota.
Gerald is survived by two daughters: Sharon K. Knutsen of Clinton, Iowa, and Debra L. Fulcher of Lewisville, Colorado, one son: Gary F. (Sue) Steffey of Princeton, Iowa; eight grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; his sister: Marge (Ron) Leffler of Fulton, two brothers, Jacob (Nancy) Temple of Fulton, and Delbert (Colleen) Temple of Clinton; and several nieces and nephews.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two sisters, and one grandson.
The family requests that memorials be made to Chancy Lutheran Church or Mercy Hospice.
