CLINTON — Roger E. “Pops” Lewis, 72, of Clinton, passed away, Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics – Iowa City, Iowa
Funeral Services will be 10:30am, Saturday, February 8, 2014 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery with military honors being conducted by the Clinton AMVETS Post #28.
Serving as pallbearers will be Roger Lewis, II, Trevor Lewis, Jordan Wright, PT, Larry Jones, Pat Jones, Paul Pridemore, and Lance Pridemore. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Willard Lewis, Jr., and Allen Ware. Visitation will be Friday from 6:00-8:00pm at the funeral home. Roger Lewis was born on December 20, 1941 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Winfred and Gladys (McClelland) Lewis. He married Florence Brigham on August 5, 1962 in Watertown, New York. He served in the United States Army, being honorably discharged in 1965.
Roger worked at Clinton Lincoln Mercury for 27 years retiring in 2003 as parts manager.
Roger loved music especially Elvis. He loved to play baseball, softball and basketball. He enjoyed spending time with his family and fishing, shooting pool and playing ping pong. He was a big supporter of the Hells our Home Motorcycle Club.
Roger is survived by his wife: Florence of Clinton; his daughter: Tina (Allen) Ware of Fort Worth, Texas, two sons: Todd (Diane) Lewis of Clinton, and Troy Lewis of Clinton; nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; three sisters: Winnie Jo (Mike) Jones of Fulton, Janice (Mike) Haan of Camanche, and Janelle (Larry) Pridemore of Clinton; and many nieces and nephews.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
