CLINTON — Walter “Walt” Frederick Kientopf, age 51 of Clinton, Iowa, formerly of Preston, Iowa, loved his family and friends. He entered in to heaven Sunday, January 5, 2014 at home.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 9, 2014 at the St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Preston, with Pastor Gregory Geier officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded following the funeral service. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at the Miller-Law-Jones Funeral Home in Preston. Walt was born August 27, 1962 in DeWitt, Iowa the son of Wolfgang J. and Darleen H. (Meggers) Kientopf. Walt attended Preston High School and graduated with the Class of 1981. On March 22, 1986 Walt married Kathleen Jean Petersen. On May 2, 2013 Walt, asked Marcie Siedburg to marry him in Savanna, Illinois. Walt worked for several farmers around the Preston area growing up. After graduating from school he went to work in California drilling wells. Most recently he was self-employed he mowed lawns, took care of landscaping, and shoveled sidewalks.
Walt was a member of the Thespian Society in Preston, Eagles Club in Clinton. He enjoyed tinkering with cars, riding his motorcycle, camping, fishing, his huskey’s, making his yard look nice, social time with friends and family. He was friendly to everyone. Walt always put everyone ahead of himself and was a very proud grandfather.
Walt will be dearly missed by his fiance, Marcie Siedburg of Clinton; his children, Kristy (Nic) Habruge of Tehachapi, California, Shannon Kientopf of Clinton, Kevin (Ana) Kientopf of San Diego, California, Mark Kientopf of Tehachapi; five grandchildren, Valoree, Taylor, Kylie Ray, Gabriel, Nash; brothers and sisters, Richard (Bonnie) Kientopf of Soldiers Grove, Wisconsin, Carol (Joe Waters) Paulsen of Clinton, Iowa, Eric (Brenda) Kientopf of Garretson, South Dakota, Kathy Macy of Preston, Art Kientopf of Clinton and his father, Wolfgang of Preston. Walt is preceded in death by his grand-parents and his mother, Darleen.
