CLINTON — Wayne W. Goettsch, age 83, of Clinton, passed away Wednesday, January 08, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center South.

A Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Prince of Peace Parish. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at the Pape Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery with military rites by the AMVETS. Casket bearers will be Earl Farrell, Ryan Blasdell, Mike Kremer, Tim Dolan, Steve Patten and Bill Dolan.

Wayne was born in Clinton on September 30, 1930, the son of Walter E. and Lula (McCue) Goettsch. He graduated from Lyons High School in 1949.

Wayne served with the U.S. Navy from 1949 to 1953, stationed in Norfolk, VA on the U.S.S. Roanoke, during the Korean War. He married Patricia Ann Dolan on June 10, 1952 in St. Edward’s Chapel at St. Mary’s Church. He was employed at Clinton Corn Processing Company for 30 years and later at Mercy Medical Center.

Wayne was a member of Prince of Peace Parish and the AMVETS. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports, visiting with friends at Sister’s Café and following the Iowa Hawkeye’s basketball and football teams. Wayne was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, golfing, gardening and playing cards.

Wayne is survived by his wife Patricia; four children, Michael Goettsch of Roselle, IL, Timothy Goettsch of Colorado Springs, CO, Jeffrey Goettsch of Gold Canyon, AZ and Teresa (Alan) Blasdell of Fenton, IL; three grandchildren, Chastity McNatt, Katelynn Blasdell and Ryan Blasdell; two great-grandchildren, Bodin and Maddilynn McNatt; two sisters, Marge (Jack) Struve and Marilyn (Don) Studemann both of Clinton and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorials may be made to Prince of Peace. Online condolences may be left at
