Living in the country watching and feeding the birds, hearing his beagle dog Gordie howling through the timber chasing nothing but a scent were a great joy to him. Robbie and Steve were avid Iowa Hawkeye fans and were season ticket holders for football attending most games. But one of his biggest joys was spending time with his grandsons: Mike and Ben. Many hours were spent playing Skip Bo, Sorry, and racing each other on the DS.

Steve is survived by his wife: Robbie of Clinton; his step-daughter: Cindy Hintermeister of Clinton; two grandsons: Mike and Ben; sister-in-law: Doris (Morland) Clark of Fulton; and several nieces and nephews.
