Ronald C. Workman, 81, of Morrison, died Sunday, November 25, 2012, at his home.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, November 28, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. There will be no funeral service.
Cremation rites to be accorded. Interment will be in the Fulton Township Cemetery in Fulton.
Memorials may be made to the COPD Foundation.
He was born October 12, 1931, in Moline, IL, to Clifford and Hettie (Yerkey) Workman.
Ron attended Fulton schools in Fulton, IL.
He was married to Shirley Mae King for 25 years. He then married Betty L. Houseman for 25 years. The later married Gladys Roberts for 8 years.
He began working as a truck driver with his father at Workman Trucking. He then worked for Freeport Fast Freight, Freeport, Ill.; and General Cartage in Rock Falls, Ill. After his retirement, he drove for Stralow Trucking and Elwyn Nice Trucking.
He was a member of the Fulton Saddle Club and the Moose Lodge in Clinton. Ron was also a member of various camping clubs; he loved to camp and would spend winters at the Leisure World Community in Texas.
Survivors include one daughter, Gloria (Robert) Carroll of Morrison; one son, Michael Eugene (Nhat) Workman of Vietnam; three granddaughters, Ronnie Jean Carroll, Bobbie Jo Watkins, Terrie Jo Carroll; one grandson, Christopher Shawn Carroll; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one brother, Dale (Jane) Workman of Morrison.
He was preceded in death by his parents; all three wives; and one half sister, Jewel Knowles.
