FULTON, Ill. — Roberta Ann Tichler, 76, of Fulton, died Sunday, March 9, 2014 at CGH Medical Center in Sterling, IL after her courageous battle with cancer; surrounded by her loving family.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 13, 2014 at Ebenezer Reformed Church, Morrison, IL. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, March 13, 2104 at the Fulton Township Cemetery, Fulton, IL, with Ken Renkes, director of Congregational Care at Ebenezer Reformed Church, Morrison, IL, officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Interment will be at the Fulton Township Cemetery, Fulton, IL.
Memorials may be made to the Ebenezer Church Library and Susan G. Komen For the Cure.
Roberta was born on July 24, 1937 in Clinton, IA to Jake C. and Florence (Wiebenga) Balk. She was educated in the Christian School in Fulton, IL and graduated from Fulton High School, Fulton, IL in 1955.
She married Warren R. Tichler on February 17, 1956 in Fulton, IL.
Roberta was previously employed as a secretary at Fulton Junior High in Fulton, IL. She was a Homemaker.
Roberta was a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison, IL where she served as church librarian for the last few years. She enjoyed reading, traveling and attending all her grandchildren’s sporting and school events.
Survivors include her husband Warren; three daughters, Gail (Steve) Moeller, Clinton, IA, Patty (Keith) Hughes, Mt. Carroll, IL, and Jane (Barry) Houzenga, Morrison, IL; two sons, Scott Tichler, Homewood, IL, and Rich Tichler, Mt. Carroll, IL; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; one sister, Mrs. Bonnie Simon, Fulton, IL; and one brother, Ken (Audrey) Balk, Fulton, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Calvin Balk in infancy.
