FULTON, Ill. -- David L. Hayen, 81, of Fulton, died Saturday, March 15, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center North, Clinton.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, with Pastor Wayne Wiersema, of Gateway Faith Fellowship, Fulton, officiating. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Burial will be in Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison, Ill. Memorials have been established.
He was born Nov. 15, 1932 in Morrison, to Arnold and Hilda (Nelson) Hayen. David was educated in the Morrison Grade Schools and was a 1950 graduate of Morrison High School.
He married Leah “Boots” J. Brown on June 14, 1957, in Rock Falls, Ill.
David was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during the Korean Conflict.
He farmed in the rural Fulton, Ill., area until 1974. He was then employed by the Whiteside County Highway Department, from which he retired.
David was a member of the Morrison United Methodist Church in Morrison, Ill. He was a member of Morrison VFW Post 8281. David enjoyed the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Boots; a son, Greg (Linda Killean) Hayen, of Fulton; five grandchildren, Eric Hayen and Jaime, Sarah Mahoney and Jim, Trevor Underwood, Brett Cartee and Weston Jones; and four great-grandchildren, Alex Underwood, Izabel Underwood, Madison Hayen, and DJ “David” Williams.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Wendy L. Mahoney; a son, Steven Hayen; and a sister, Judy Quish.
