CLINTON — James A. Petersen, age 77 of Clinton, died Thursday April 10, 2014 at his home. Funeral services will be held 4:00 PM Sunday April 13th at the Pape Funeral Home. Visitation will be held 2 – 4 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Following the funeral service, cremation rites will be accorded and burial will be held at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Jim was born on Nov. 15, 1936 in Clinton, the son of Clarence and Marjorie (Fallesen) Petersen. He attended Goose Lake Schools. He married Sally Nelson on Dec. 14, 1986 in Goose Lake, she died in 2010. Jim worked for Clinton Engines, Caterpillar, purchasing the Welcome Inn in Goose Lake, before working for International Paper for 20 years. Of late, he worked for Advance Auto Parts. He was a member of the Eagles Club since 1979. He enjoyed going for walks on the dike with his dog, Harley.

Jim is survived by his three stepdaughters, Julie Shepard of Clinton, Lori (Tom) Kuelper of Clinton, and Lisa Nelson of Hebron, IL; two stepsons, Jay (Karen) Nelson of Indianola, IA and Craig Coleman of Tucson, AZ; 11 stepgrandchildren and 11 stepgreat-grandchildren; a brother, Gary (Jean) Petersen of Goose Lake, IA; and two nephews, Kevin and Rick. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and a grandson.
