MORRISON, Ill. — April 6, 1961 - March 19, 2013

Martin Jay Dykema, 51, of Morrison, died Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at a rural farm in Morrison.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 23, 2013, at the Morrison United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dan Schenck, pastor at the Morrison United Methodist Church, officiating. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2013, at the Morrison United Methodist Church. Interment will be in the Rock Creek Cemetery in Morrison.

Memorials may be made to the Morrison United Methodist Church.

He was born April 6, 1961, in Morrison to Don and Ruth (Feldt) Dykema. He married Leanne K. Grater on October 4, 1981, in Morrison.

He played fast pitch softball for the Morrison Merchants and also for the Thomson Merchants in Thomson, Ill. Marty enjoyed farming; he began with his grandfather and father and recently was farming with his sons. He was also very active in all of his children’s hobbies and activities such as horseback riding, wrestling, football, camping, boating and four-wheeling. Marty also really enjoyed barbecuing and hosted several BBQ-cookoff contests for friends and family.

Survivors include his wife, Leanne; two daughters, Erin (Josh) James of Morrison and Kate (Cody) Goodwin of Morrison; two sons, Nolan Dykema of Morrison and Thomas Dykema of Morrison; four grandchildren: Jaelynn and Joslynn James, Kaylie and Isaac Goodwin; parents, Don and Ruth Dykema of Morrison; one sister, Julie (Jim) Brown of Morrison; and one brother, Jerry Dykema of Beaumont, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Frank and Tena Feldt; paternal grandparents, Jay and Henrietta Dykema and Ida Mae Dykema; and one sister, Lynn Johnson.
