CAMANCHE — Bruce E. Dash, 72, of Camanche, Iowa, passed away Sunday, September 22, 2013 at his home, surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer.
A casual, celebration of Bruce’s life will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at the Camanche Chapel, Snell Zornig Funeral Home. Private burial will take place at the Rock Island Arsenal, National Cemetery.
Bruce was born June 18, 1941 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of William and Evelyn (Goodell) Dash. Bruce was a 1959 Clinton High School graduate.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1959-1966 and the U.S. Coast Guard from 1971 until retiring in 1991.
Bruce married Michelle Noble on December 29, 1986 in Camanche.
He was a member of the AMVETS, the Coast Guard Association and Chief Petty Officer Association.
Survivors include wife, Michelle of Camanche; daughters, Julie (Matt) Broadrick of Clinton and Christine (Kevin) Zeeryp of Camanche; grandchildren, Jared Zeeryp of Iowa City, Erin (Donnie) Schroeder of Sioux City, IA; Alec Zeeryp of Camanche and Todd Broadrick of Clinton, IA; mother, Evelyn of Clinton; brothers, Douglas (Shirley) Dash of Clinton, IA; Gary (Delores) Dash of Clinton; Bob Dash of Albany, IL and David Dash of Hawaii and sister Judy Voda of Clinton, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his father.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family or to the Clinton Humane Society.
