ALBANY, Ill. — Ruth N. Crampton, 77, of Albany, died Friday, Sept. 27, 2013, at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, at the Pape Funeral Home, Clinton. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Following the funeral service, cremation rites will be accorded and burial will take place at Erie Cemetery at a later date. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.
Ruth was born on Feb. 11, 1936 in Clinton, IA, the daughter of Joseph and Nellie (Chase) Kohten. She married Elmer Crampton on Aug. 11, 1951 in Davenport, IA; he died in 2004.
She worked for Jim Walter Window Components and Steak Inn both of Camanche. She and her husband owned and operated Gold Dome Buildings in Des Moines for many years. Ruth was an avid collector of telephone insulators. She enjoyed crocheting blankets for veterans and watching her wild animals at her home in Albany.
Ruth is survived by her four children, William (Ruth) Crampton of Erie, IL, Robert Crampton of Clinton, IA, Ronald (Karen) Crampton of Des Moines, IA, and Jody (Mark) Borgman of Fulton, IL; 16 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; two sisters, Georgia (Robert) Kane of Clinton and Patricia Dean of Fulton, IL; a brother, Carl Kohten of Colonial Heights, VA; and several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, a daughter, two sisters, and a brother.
