FULTON, Ill. — Dorothy M. Schaver, 86, of Fulton, died Tuesday, December 3, 2013, at her home.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 7, 2013, at the Trinity Reformed Church in Fulton with Pastor Floyd West officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of funeral service Saturday, December 7, 2013, at the Trinity Reformed Church in Fulton. The Fulton chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Homes is in charge of arrangements. Interment will take place at Fulton Township Cemetery in Fulton. Memorials have been established.
Dorothy was born October 4, 1927 in Ustick Township, Ill. to John W. and Alice (Merema) Huizenga.
Dorothy was educated in the rural Whiteside County grade schools.
Dorothy married Marvin W. Schaver on November 11, 1947 in Erie, Ill. Marvin died on April 10, 1984.
Dorothy farmed along with her late husband, Marvin from 1948 to 1968. She then was employed as nurse’s aid at Harbor Crest Nursing Home in Fulton. Most recently she worked as a private duty caregiver.
Dorothy was a member of the Trinity Reformed Church in Fulton. Dorothy enjoyed reading, crocheting and spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by one daughter Marcia (Ron) Dykstra – Thomson, Ill.; two sons Jerry (Nancy) Schaver – Thomson, Ill. and Scott (Sharon) Schaver – Clinton, Iowa; nine grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Marvin; one son, Bill Schaver; one granddaughter, Angie Lyn Dykstra in infancy; one sister in infancy; and two brothers, Wilbert Huizenga and one in infancy.
