CLINTON — Elaine Joyce Koch, at age 83, went to be with our Lord on Feb. 4th, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. She fought a courageous battle with cancer; maintaining a positive attitude & determined spirit, having been a cancer survivor 3 times over the past 27 years.
Born & raised in the Preston, Iowa area, daughter of Arthur & Alma Scheckel, she married Laverne Koch on Nov. 1, 1950 in Dubuque Iowa. They were married for 63 years. They lived in Preston, Maquoketa & Davenport Iowa before moving to Arlington, Texas in 1970.She was a devoted & caring mother, wife, grandmother, great- grandmother who loved her family dearly.
She devoted her last years to caring for her husband Vern, a survivor of a debilitating stroke 4 years prior. After raising her 4 children as a stay at home Mom, Elaine entered the workforce & served as an active real estate agent in the DFW area.
Over the next 35 years, she achieved various awards.She was preceded in death by her parents, eldest son Brad Koch; brother Robert Scheckel; grandson in law, Ted Persky; son’s in law, Gary Roberts and Dr. Gerald Guest. Elaine enjoyed cooking and family outings, especially with her grand- daughter & her great grandchildren.
She enjoyed traveling & visiting family and friends in Iowa, and loved staying in touch with her loved ones by way of Face book.
She is survived by her husband, Vern Koch; sister lone & Milton Rowan of Bellevue Iowa; sister in law, Mary Ann Scheckel, of Preston Iowa; daughter, Barbara Guest of Keller Texas; Son, Dennis of Olalla, Washington; son, Rick of Ft Worth; granddaughter, Amy Lambert & husband Jason of Keller TX; and great grandchildren Hannah, Blake & Alli.
Her continued gift of selflessness lives on by donating her body to University of North Texas research center. She will be greatly missed by her extended family, friends and all those who’s lives she touched. The family's address is 5610 Oak View Dr. Ft. Worth TX 76112.
