SAVANNA, Ill. — Euveta S. Hook had a true passion for roller skating and never missed the opportunity to lace up her skates. She entered in to heaven at the age of 82, on Monday, October 14, 2013 at her caretaker’s home in rural Savanna.

Euveta was born June 20, 1931 to Eber and Edna (Tripp) Shepherd, in Savanna. She attended Mt. Carroll High School and graduated with the Class of 1949. Euveta married Donald Hook on June 9, 1951. Donald passed away June 21, 2013.

Euveta worked for the Savanna Army Depot for five years; she drove a school bus for Mt. Carroll Schools for 13 years, and worked in the office for the Mt. Carroll School District for 26 years. She also took care of the entire book keeping for Don’s business.

She was a member of the Mt. Carroll American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed watching The Lawrence Welk Show, doing work around the house, baking, cooking, shopping and taking care of her cats.

Euveta will be dearly missed by her two sons, James Hook of Lanark, Illinois and Michael (JoAnn) Hook of Mt. Carroll; her daughter, Tammi Hook of Rock Falls, Illinois; and one sister, Eudora Homan of Tuscon, Arizona.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, one infant grandchild, her infant sister, Leola, and her parents.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, October 19, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Law-Jones Funeral Home in Savanna. A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place in the Savanna Township Cemetery.
