FULTON, Ill. — Doris R. Dykstra, 86, of Fulton, died Saturday, October 19, 2013, at Harbor Crest Home in Fulton, IL.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at the Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Fulton, IL, with Ken Renkes, director of Congregational Care: Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison, IL, officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at the Fulton Chapel – Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Interment will be at Fulton Township Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Bethel Christian Reformed Church Youth Ministry.

Doris was born May 29, 1927 in Fulton, to John E. and Nellie (Sikkema) Vanderploeg.

Doris was educated in the Fulton Grade Schools and was a 1945 graduate of Fulton High School in Fulton, IL.

She married John E. Dykstra on June 19, 1945 in Fulton, IL; he died November 5, 2006.

Doris farmed along with her husband, John, in the rural Morrison and Fulton, IL areas.

Doris was a charter member of the Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Fulton and the church’s Lydia Bible Study group. She enjoyed reading and spending time with family

Survivors include one daughter, Sharon (Wayne) Rickertsen, Low Moor, IA; four sons, Len (Shirley) Dykstra, Fulton, IL, Russ (Julie) Dykstra, Fulton, IL, Dave (Laurie) Dykstra – Morrison, IL, and Warren (Karen) Dykstra, Camanche, IA; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband John; two sisters, Bernadine Durkee, Rosemary Fanderclai; and two brothers, Edward and Palmer Vanderploeg.
