CHARLOTTE — Eldon J. Wiese, 81, of Charlotte, died Thursday, March 28, 2013, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 1, 2013, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Charlotte. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, March 31, at the Pape Funeral Home, Clinton. Burial will be in the Glahn Cemetery near Goose Lake. Casket bearers will be his grandsons. Online condolences can be left at www.papefh.com.
Eldon was born on August 23, 1931, in Clinton County, Iowa, the son of John A. and Louise (Kunde) Wiese. He graduated from Charlotte High School in 1948. He was a mechanic in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Lola Glahn on July 17, 1955, in Charlotte. Eldon farmed and milked cows on the family farm near Charlotte his entire life. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Charlotte where he served as an elder and trustee. He was a member of the E.A.A., the R.E.C., where he was director, and served on the Clinton County Conservation Board.
Eldon is survived by his wife, Lola Wiese of Charlotte; three sons, Dean (Linda) Wiese of Charlotte, Duane (Deb) Wiese of Camanche; and John (Janice) Wiese of Clinton; seven grandchildren: Justin (Sara) Wiese, Jared Wiese, Jennifer Wiese, Danielle (Justin) Sampson, Steven Wiese, Rebecca Wiese and Emily (Karl) Dimmer: six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Donna (Robert) Wirth of Elwood, IA; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
