Elizabeth Emmons Gussak

CLINTON — Elizabeth Emmons Gussak, 94, of Clinton, died Monday, April 8, 2013, at Oaknoll Retirement Residence in Iowa City.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory. Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery with military honors being conducted by Clinton AMVETS Post 28. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
She was born March 17, 1919, in DeWitt, Iowa, to Richard and Beulah Brown Emmons.
Elizabeth graduated from the University of Iowa with a master's degree and was a registered dietician. She served in World War II from 1943 to 1946 with the hospital corps in the China Burma India theater and was a lifetime member of the CBI Veterans Association, serving as past national commander, and with the Iowa BASHA as past commander.
Elizabeth married Col. John Gussak in 1956. He died in 1972.
Elizabeth was a member of the American and Iowa Dietetic Association, the First Congregational Church of Clinton, PEO, VFW, University of Iowa Alumni Association and Delta-Delta-Delta Omicron Honorary Home Economics Association.
Elizabeth is survived by 6 nieces, 1 nephew, and several great and great-great-nieces and nephews.
