Ruby M. Raymond

SAVANNA, Ill. — Ruby M. Raymond was a devoted mother and an inspiration to her family and friends. Ruby died at the age of 84 with her family by her side on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at the Mt. Carroll Good Samaritan Society.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 18 at First United Methodist Church in Savanna, with Reverend Sejoon Jang officiating. Burial will take place in Savanna Township Cemetery, Savanna. A visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna. Ruby was born on September 25, 1929, the daughter of Hestor and Mary Lou (Davis) Flynn, in Brickeys, Arkansas. She was raised in Tennessee and received her education in Memphis. She married David H. Raymond on May 18, 1947, in Hernando, Mississippi. David died on October 29, 1984.
Ruby was a waitress for several local restaurants, including The Black Angus and Indian Head Supper Clubs in Savanna. She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Savanna, where she served with the Methodist Women and on the Worship Committee. Ruby was also a former member of the Savanna Women’s Club and the Savanna VFW Women’s Auxiliary.
Ruby enjoyed sewing, fishing, cake decorating and traveling. Most of all, Ruby cherished spending time with her family and friends.
Ruby will be dearly missed by her four children; Debbie Raymond of Alamogordo, New Mexico, Vickie (Jon) Lockhart of Fulton, Illinois, Kathy (Alex Jackson) Ihle of Roscoe, Illinois, and Michael (Lisa) Raymond of Beloit, Wisconsin; eleven grandchildren; two great grandsons; and one sister, Betty Thompson of Senatobia, Mississippi.
Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, David; two brothers, Robert and Edward Flynn; and four sisters, Chris Lindquist, Jean Medlin, Frances Hendren, and Hazel Markle.
