GALESBURG, Ill. — Feb. 28, 1930 - Nov. 1, 2012

Mrs. Mary A. Hinderliter, 82, of Galesburg, Ill., formerly of Bettendorf, Iowa, and Keithsburg, Ill., died at noon Thursday, November 1, 2012, in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.

She was born February 28, 1930, in Rock Island, Ill., the daughter of Arthur C. and Lulu C. Walker Stone. She married Donald E. Hinderliter on July 20, 1952, in Galesburg.  He preceded her in death on December 3, 2001.

She is survived by her son, Steve (Jo) Hinderliter of Mathersville, Ill.; two daughters, Terri Kokemuller and Merri Sedam, both of Joy, Ill.; six granddaughters, Dawn (Steve) Newman of Kewanee, Ill., Brianne Kokemuller of Denver, Colo., Amanda (Jeff) Stanek of Clearfield, Ky., Staci Hinderliter of Urbana, Ill., Catherine Kokemuller of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and Kelli Hinderliter of Springfield, Mo.; two great-grandchildren, Blake and Brooke Cheesman of Kewanee, Ill.; a brother-in-law, Bob (Joyce) Hinderliter of Glasford, Ill.; a sister-in-law, Henrietta Stone of Galesburg; an uncle, Jim (Inez) Bevard of Galesburg; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son-in-law, Gary Sedam, and two brothers.

She worked as a clerk for the Rock Island Postal Service for 17 years, retiring in 1989. She graduated from Galesburg High School in 1947. Mary was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Methodist Women.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Monday, November 5, 2012, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Pastor Staci Hinderliter will officiate. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, November 4, 2012, at the chapel. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family to establish a memorial fund at a later date for Radio Ministry. Online condolences may be made at
