DEWITT — Katie C. (Mrs. Henry) Henningsen, 82, DeWitt, Iowa, formerly of Elvira, Iowa, died peacefully, Sunday morning, April 21, 2013 at Genesis Medical Center-DeWitt.

She was educated in German Schools and attended a Business School. As a young woman, Katie worked in a travel agency. On May 24, 1952, she was united in marriage to Henry Henningsen in Haddeby, Schleswig-Holstein.

The couple resided in Germany briefly. On March 10, 1953, they boarded the SS America to emigrate to the United States. Katie and Henry arrived in New York on March 17, 1953, and disembarked on March 18th. They traveled by train to Savanna, Illinois, and settled in the Miles, Iowa, area.
