PORT BYRON, Ill. — Robert D. “Bob” Brondyke, 90, of Port Byron, IL, died Tuesday, April, 23, 2013 at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 27th, at Gibson – Bode Funeral Home, Port Byron. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, IL. Memorials may be made to Fairfield United Methodist Church.
Robert was born October 2, 1922 in Fulton, Illinois, the son of Ralph and Gertrude (Vogel) Brondyke. He married Phyllis Maxwell Reiling on January 11, 1975 at the Port Byron Methodist Church. Robert worked as a farmer, truck driver and equipment operator retiring from CF Industries in 1987.
He enjoyed his family, camping and boating. Robert was a member of Fairfield United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis; daughters and their spouses, Sharon (Ben) Marruffo, Rock Falls, Shirley Wierenga (John) Huber, Fulton; stepchildren: Carole (Tom) Coussens, Rapids City, Jim (Rita) Reiling, Colona, Ray Reiling, Coal Valley; sisters, Irma (Dwight) Hoogheem, Fulton, Doris (Frank) Vandermyde, Morrison, Marcia (Gerry) Meinsma, Morrison; 11 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Darlene Brondyke in infancy, and Lois Norman.
