BRYANT —William Joseph Pokorny, 61, of Bryant, Iowa passed away peacefully at his home on June 15th, 2013. Honoring his wishes, cremation rights have been accorded with a private celebration of his life to take place at a later date. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.

William was born March 25th, 1952 the son of William Sr. and Barbara (Coufal) Pokorny. He was a 1970 graduate of Northeast High School. He was united in marriage to Julie St. Clair on May 4th, 1973 in Clinton, Iowa.

William worked for 41 years for the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad, and later Union Pacific, as a conductor. He was a member of the United Transportation Union.

For many years William enjoyed helping his Father on the farm. He enjoyed hunting, however, when William put his Lund boat into the water, walleye and crappie would tremble, his passion was fishing. He also enjoyed watching his children raise and show horses. Now and then he would slip-in 18 holes of golf. Above all he loved his children and loved spending time with his grandchildren. His dog Gracie was always a loving companion.

William is survived by his wife Julie of Bryant, IA.; three daughters - Shayla (William) Corbisier of Morrison, IL., Jessica (Keith) Krause of Clinton, IA., Jami (Adam) Lange of Bryant, IA.; four grandchildren - Brooke Corbisier at home, Noah Krause at home, Kellan & Kaleb Lange at home; four sisters - Teresa Beck of Onawa, IA., Ardean Carlson of Clinton, IA., Marcia (Roger) Franks of Clinton, IA., Siena (Dave) Witt of Port Charlotte, FL.; many nieces and nephews and his fishing buddy Steve Bromely.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother - James.
